Penn State Health, a multihospital health system serving patients and communities across 29 counties in central Pennsylvania and employing more than 17,700 people system-wide, is seeking a Regional Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), to be responsible for nursing practice and overall administrative, operational, and financial functions of nursing and clinical areas.
Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center brings acute inpatient medical services to communities in Cumberland, Perry, and York counties. The facility, features 108 private inpatient beds and an attached outpatient medical office building.

Ensures integration of services and compliance with long range objectives and strategies, including the provision of excellent quality services and the practice of sound business practices.
Penn State Health includes seven hospitals, and more than 3,000 physicians and direct care providers at more than 126 outpatient practices in 94 locations. Additionally, the system jointly operates various health care providers, including Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center, Hershey Endoscopy Center, Horizon Home Healthcare, and the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute.
Hampden Medical Center, Enola, Pennsylvania, will open its doors to patients on October 1, 2021. This state-of-the-art, 110-bed West Shore hospital will provide expert 24/7 emergency medical care, inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical care, and labor and delivery services.
Working closely with independent community providers, Penn State Health physicians and community practice providers will bring the highest-quality acute care conveniently close to home for West Shore residents.
Patients at Hampden Medical Center have quick and coordinated access to the world class expertise of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Health Children's Hospital in Hershey.

Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, serves the greater Harrisburg region with outpatient and inpatient diagnostic, medical, and surgical services on its East Pennsboro Township campus and outpatient locations in Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and northern York counties. The four-story Ortenzio Heart Center at Holy Spirit is devoted to the care and treatment of patients with heart problems. Its Level II trauma center physicians and staff provide around-the-clock complex critical care for those suffering from life-threatening injuries.

As a member of senior leadership, the CNO provides strategic direction, executive level leadership, planning, organization, and general management for all aspects of patient care at Penn State Health Holy Spirit and Hampden Medical Centers, ensuring integration of services and compliance with long range objectives and strategies, including the provision of excellent quality services and the practice of sound business practices. She/he is responsible to proactively identify progressive approaches to deliver patient care and enhance overall patient satisfaction, and culture of nursing and clinical services
The Regional Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for nursing practice, and overall administrative, operational, and financial functions of nursing and clinical areas. This includes proactively identifying progressive approaches to deliver patient care and enhance overall patient satisfaction, and culture of nursing and clinical services. Accountable to lead evidence-based patient care services across the continuum that includes patient and family centered care, and inter-professional delivery models that drives efforts and outcomes steeped in continuous quality improvement.
Provides leadership, direction, and oversight of nursing operations; this includes management of nursing functions and patient care services, develop appropriate staffing matrix, and works with the nursing staff to identify gaps on quality. Establish, defines, and implements nursing models of practice that provide a uniform approach to patient care across all venues and define appropriate skill mix while meeting department specific needs.
Develops, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and models to improve efficiency and delivery of quality patient care and services. Supports and implements performance improvement initiatives related to care redesign, quality, safety, and length of stay.
Collaborates with medical staff leadership and manages relationships with hospital-based practices and operational departments.
Work collaboratively with HR to ensure that policies, compensation and benefit structures, and employee relations strategies support a safe and effective working environment to attract and retain qualified nursing and nursing support staff.
Represents the hospitals, serves as nursing liaison with regulatory bodies and external healthcare organizations as the chief nursing executive for the organization.
Graduate-level degree in a relevant field of management, nursing, policy, or administration.
10 years of executive healthcare management experience including nursing and physician relations experience.
Current Registered Professional Nurse license, issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
Leadership experience in a multihospital system or integrated delivery system preferred.
Representative knowledge, skills, and abilities of nurse administrators per the ANA Scope and Standards.
