Join our growing Palliative Care team in Southeastern Connecticut. This position will provide inpatient consultative services at a 206 bed academic community hospital. You will join an established and respected team with full interdisciplinary support, including physician, APRN, social worker, and chaplain. There are many opportunities for clinical education and research, and the option exists for a part time clinical faculty appointment with Yale.
The Medical Director of Palliative Care Services oversees the palliative care program, is responsible for ensuring the program meets yearly goals and objectives and, along with senior leadership, support the growth and quality of the services.
Position Requirements include Board Certified/Board Eligible internal medicine or family medicine physician who has completed fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and has been working in palliative care medicine. Additional experience growing a service and building an ambulatory program is desired.

The medical director of Palliative Care identifies and problem solves issues that arise with Palliative Care Services. The medical director provides quality monitoring and performance support for all Center for Palliative Care nurses and advanced clinical providers. The medical director oversees co-ordination of education at the level of fellowship, PA and Medical student, and APRN student as needed. The medical director assists in the implementation of strategy to grow Palliative Care Services. The medical director oversees the operations of PalGEMS, which are ED Palliative Care Services with in the service line. The medical director assists the executive director with implementing new palliative care services in the service line. The medical director of palliative care serves as a staff educator and a role model in the quality of care delivered to patients with serious illness. In addition to the role of medical director, this position also fulfills all the requirements of physician in the section of Palliative Care Medicine including provision of health assessment and direct care in all our practice environments to patients as part of the provider team. The palliative medicine physician provides comprehensive medical services for patients, regardless of age or sex on a continuing basis by performing the following duties outlined in this document.
