Responsibilities
The Service Line Nurse Practice Manager assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, supports research, participates in both long and short term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Service Line Nurse Practice Manager is accountable to the Director, Ambulatory Operations and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice.
The Service Line Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Service Line Nurse Practice Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by: providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
The Service Line Manager works closely with the Ambulatory Operations Director, Ambulatory Nursing Directors, Gastroenterology, School of Medicine Leadership, and all executive Ambulatory leadership, to execute UC Davis Healths strategic goals, promote program growth, and deliver cost-effective services leading to revenue generation and increased market share.
REQUIRED
- Minimum 2 years of nursing management experience
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Masters Degree in Nursing or Bachelors Degree in Nursing with Masters degree in related field.
- Current license as a registered nurse in the State of California

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
- This position requires occasional provision of direct patient care, including moving and positioning patients (with assistance as needed to ensure employee and patient safety) and assisting with multiple exams and procedures that cumulatively may last several hours at a time. Job also typically requires frequent movement throughout the clinic.
