Operations: Manages the daily operations of the Occupational Health Clinic at UHS, maintaining patient care objectives, clinical protocols, policies and procedures. ? Plans for and adjust day-day staffing of unit, per operational needs ? Ensures that staff of OHC are compliant with training, proctoring, certifications, etc and maintaining records. ? Plans, staffs, and oversees annual Occupational Health influenza clinics ? Coordinate and track updates to unit wide policy and procedure manuals for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and assists as needed with the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) preparation for site visits. ? At Chief-OEHP direction, conducts research and analysis on administrative policies and procedures, best practices and emerging issues. Reports findings to supervisor and implements under direction; directs administrative staff in maintenance of office procedure manuals; assists clinical staff in maintenance of clinical procedure manuals. ? Resolves sensitive and urgent matters that are beyond the scope of the front line staff and monitors patient complaint and feedback system, tracking patterns. Notifies upper management on high level or risk issues. ? Supports Chief-OEHP with oversight of the OHC office budget expenditures; makes recommendations to improve service and/or reduce costs. ? Serves as administrative liaison with vendors, medical specialist offices and University of California, Berkeley departments ? Serves as an EMR (currently SYSTOC) liaison with IT and work with them as needed to implement updates and changes.
Supervision: ? Manages the scheduling of staff according to patient acuity and to assure optimal clinical services across unit. ? Coordinates and participates in a variety of Human Resources activities, including employment, training, classification and ensuring the completion of required processes related to Human Resources and payroll. ? Monitors and evaluates work of direct reports. ? Assists with training and ensuring MAs are competent with basic clinical and administrative duties including general wound care, administering vaccinations, processing workers compensation notes, requesting consult notes in a timely manner, and surveillance/screening follow up.
Occupational Health Program Strategic Support: ? Provides high level support to the Chief, OEHP. Promotes safety of patients and staff through continuous maintenance of Occupational Health policies and ongoing knowledge of UHS policies and procedures. Programs include: infection control programs, Health & Safety policies, administrative policies, scheduling rules. ? Coordinates with campus departments as needed to develop and maintain screening programs. ? Oversees all Occupational Health surveillance programs for accuracy and compliance. ? Under direction of Chief, OEHP, responsible for ensuring continuous compliance with UHS and campus screening programs. May develop, coordinate, and conduct medical surveillance programs. ? In coordination with EH&S and at the direction of the Chief, OEHP, manages the administrative aspects of the Campus Automated Defibrillator Program. Includes assisting in the hiring of EH&S Field technician, acting as contact with this employee, assuring the AED database is maintained and functioning. Researching, resolving problems, analyzing programs, and reviewing best practices and emerging issues. ? Coordinates building and campus exposure investigation and follow-up ? Develops, manages, and updates website and other outreach, training and informational activities. ? Creates and maintains various spreadsheets and databases for program support. ? Manages meeting schedule, ensures creation of efficient tools for a wide range of organizational tasks, programs and presentations including but not limited to training, tracking/recall systems and storage of data. ? Program Metrics & Quality Control: work with Chief, OEHP and UHS data management team to develop system for measuring and tracking outcomes. Maintains and monitors staffing records and statistics.
Direct Patient Care: ? Anticipates needs of occupational health patients, including workers compensation and screening patients. ? Conducts nursing visits including pre-employment and other screening visits per protocol, ppd readings, wound care checks, and immunizations. ? Removes sutures, applies/removes dressings per clinic protocols. ? Applies basic orthopedic devices, according to training/licensure ? Triages patients as needed ? Reviews, triages, and follows-up incoming results/paperwork/consultation reports

Knowledge and Skills
Supervisory/management training and/or experience in a healthcare setting
Solid knowledge of clinic operations, including administration, protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology; ability to recognize the abnormal. Knowledge of common medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects and potential toxicity. Especially as related to vaccines administered or medications dispensed for prophylaxis.
Knowledge of State laws, CDC recommendations, OSHA regulations and UHS/OHC policies and procedures regarding employee health
Knowledge of electronic/medical record systems. Must be computer literate.
Knowledge of and ability to perform occupational health screening tests including audiometry, spirometry, vision testing (snellen, titmus).
Solid knowledge of patient need and care assessment.
Broad clinical skills in providing and supervising the appropriate medical care to patients.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, staff members, and other members of the medical community.
Proven expertise in clinical case management. Education:
Bachelors degree in nursing. Licenses or certifications:
Must have current and valid California State RN license.
BLS certification required.
Certification in spirometry (NIOSH) and audiometry preferred.
